It’s rarely the tile that fails; it’s the paper underneath. Years of 110°+ heat turn that waterproof barrier brittle. Eventually, it cracks, and that is when the leaks start.

Monsoon storms can lift and shift your tiles just enough to let the sun and rain in. Once that protective shell is breached, the water has a direct path to your ceiling.
